XPX DC Metro: The Partnership Charter - How to Avoid a Partnership Disaster….. and Build One That Will Last!

Event Information

It is estimated that between 70% and 80% of business partnerships fail. Why? Misunderstood expectations, unclear personal priorities and different business goals can be sand in the gears of a smooth functioning partnership. Despite the amount of partnership conflict, it is rare to find partners who sit down together and thoroughly explore the ins and outs of their partnership and how they will work and make decisions together. David Gage is the author of “The Partnership Charter” and with his wife Donna, leads BMC Associates. The Partnership Charter is a conflict prevention tool designed to help partners avoid the pitfalls and plan for their success. Please join us to learn from David and Donna how this process works and how to ensure increased probability of success for our clients.

Partners Planning – Beginnings and Endings

David Gage

David Gage is a clinical psychologist, mediator, author, and founder of two business-partner-related firms: BMC Associates, which has worked exclusively for 30 years with business partners and co-owners of family businesses – helping them prevent and resolve co-owners conflicts – and The Partnership Charter Institute, which was founded 4 years ago to develop an online tool for firms to use with their own business-partner clients.

David has written for and been featured in numerous publications, and has spoken to dozens of organizations. He is the author of The Partnership Charter, which remains one of the only books that thoroughly addresses both the business and interpersonal sides of having partners.

Donna Gage

Donna Gage is an accomplished negotiator, mediator, and executive. As a principal with BMC Associates she both mediates conflicts among business partners and family business owners, and helps partners develop, fine-tune, and transition their partnerships by collaboratively developing Partnership Charters.

Donna has brought her decades of experience as a Chief Nursing Officer at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and finally at the U.S. Veterans Health Administration where she was the VA’s top nursing leader guiding executives responsible for over 80,000 nursing personnel, 152 hospitals and 1,500 clinics nationwide. Her collaborative style has served her well in her work with co-owners of closely held businesses.
