Donnel Nunes, PhD, is a clinical therapist and educational psychologist with over two decades of experience in family therapy, education, and organizational psychology. As the Director of Innovation for the Aspen Family Business Group (AFBG) nonprofit, he has been at the forefront of integrating AI technology into family business consulting. Donnel played a key role in creating one of the first AI-driven knowledge ecosystems designed specifically for family businesses, advancing AFBG’s mission to democratize access to essential resources. A recognized expert in mentoring within family businesses, he has developed a technology-supported approach to mentoring and contributed chapters to international mentoring handbooks published by SAGE and Routledge.

As the owner and principal advisor of PVA Knowledge Group LLC, his work with family businesses in Hawaii and on the mainland centers on building trust, enhancing communication, and driving creative and compassionate solutions to promote sustainable success in family enterprises.

He is a regular speaker, program facilitator, and collaborator with the University of Hawaii Shidler Business School’s Family Business Center.

Donnel lives with his wife and son in Kailua, HI, where he plays an active role in the Kailua Chamber of Commerce and the watersport community.
