Chad Larson, a Partner at Brown Advisory will provide an introduction to income tax saving strategies relating to the sale of a business with a particular focus on planning with donor-advised funds, which will include a high-level comparison of donor-advised funds and private foundations as well as the most important considerations when utilizing a donor-advised fund to reduce income taxes when selling a business. Julia Healey, CEO of United Charitable will focus on how clients can thoughtfully deploy those funds to align with their values and goals. You’ll walk away with practical insights you can immediately apply to help clients make smarter, more meaningful charitable decisions.

Chad is a partner and strategic advisor at Brown Advisory. He focuses on individual clients’ planning regarding estate planning, taxation, financial planning, charitable giving and asset protection. Prior to Brown Advisory he worked at Craighill, Mayfield, Fenwick, Cromelin & Cobb as a trusts and estates attorney. Prior to this, he was practicing as a corporate and securities attorney at Dechert LLP. He holds a JD from the University of Virginia and an AB in History from Princeton University.

Julia Healey is the CEO of United Charitable, a nonprofit that empowers philanthropic initiatives through donor-advised funds and fiscally sponsored programs nationwide.
Julia holds a B.S. in Business Administration, an MBA in Finance, and a Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate from Georgetown University. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Leadership. She began her career in the finance sector, but after seeing firsthand the inequities in access to resources and education, she shifted to the nonprofit sector.
This passion continues to guide her work and commitment to breaking down barriers in philanthropy and supporting charitable initiatives so they can thrive.
