XPX Dallas: Built, Scaled and Tested: An Entrepreneur & Unfiltered Story of Building a Company

Companies are not built in a straight line. They are built through imperfect decisions, difficult hires, cash constraints, customer wins, painful setbacks, and the willingness to change before the market forces the issue. This month, XPX Dallas will sit down with a Dallas-Fort Worth entrepreneur for an honest conversation about the journey from idea to enduring enterprise.

We will explore early product-market fit, financing growth, building a leadership team, protecting culture, navigating concentration risk, deciding when to bring in outside expertise, and learning to lead at a different level as the company grows.

The conversation will also address the founder's relationship with control: what had to be delegated, institutionalized, or stopped so the company could scale. Whether the guest has sold, recapitalized, transferred, or continues to own the business, the emphasis will be on practical lessons that advisors can use with clients and owners can apply immediately.

Paula Feinberg, affectionately known as “The Fixer,” is a devoted wealth advisor who helps entrepreneurial families navigate life’s transitions with financial confidence and peace of mind. Drawing from her own experiences with triumph and loss, she works across generations to help families prepare for change and new opportunities. Born in Santiago, Chile, Paula’s first language was Spanish. She attended Loretto Academy and became UTEP’s first Truman Scholar. She later earned a Master’s in International and Public Affairs from Columbia University, specializing in economics and policy. Paula and her family serve at St. Rita’s Catholic Church and enjoy traveling together.

John has been part of the company since its inception 25 years ago. As the company’s CEO, John oversees the executive team, provides strategic direction, and helps shape the company’s culture. He developed and leads FreedomPark’s leadership program and oversees key airport and government partnerships. A former United States Marine, John brings a strong commitment to leadership, service, and integrity to his work. He and his wife, Nicole, have been married for 19 years and have three children. John is actively involved in his church and local community and enjoys spending time outdoors, barbequing, and live music. Above all, John is a devoted Christian.
