What’s the right privacy setting for your profile?

Your XPX Member profile is a powerful way to make it easy for people to find you and connect with you. But please know that we have a clear privacy policy and give you a lot of control over what information other members and the general public see. To get started in seeing and/or editing your privacy settings, log into your profile and click on the Privacy tab as you see at the top of this screenshot:

By default, Member profiles are public. If you want, it’s super simple to turn your off completely by clicking Edit and unchecking the profile access box (see the green checkmark in the upper right hand corner of the screenshot).

While you’re there, check that you have some way that’s people can connect with you. This means making one or several fields viewable by “Anybody” or other XPX “Members” only. Fields to consider are:

  • Website
  • Phone number
  • Email*
  • LinkedIn profile

*Note that with all these fields, but especially your email, making them public opens you to the risk that a person or a bot screen-scrapes the profile and uses it to spam you. This actually doesn’t happen that often but it’s a risk that you should understand before you share your info.

Our new website (coming in the first half of 2021) will have clear icons to make it easy to click and learn more about you and your company. So it’s worth taking a minute now and logging into your profile for a quick privacy check.
