XPX CT: Fairfield & Hartford Chapter Joint Event: After the Close – The Transition from Business Owner to Wealth Owner
After the Close:
The Transition from Business Owner to Wealth Owner
Once the deal is done and the sale proceeds are wired to the seller’s account, most advisors move on to the next transaction. But the seller still needs a competent team to advise on the next chapter of the journey – managing the wealth that has transformed from a concentrated ownership interest in an illiquid business to liquid assets. It is also at this point that the pre-sale estate and tax planning and the post-sale actions must blend. Join us as we discuss the exit process from the perspective of the estate planner and wealth advisor, explore how good pre-sale planning plays out, and delve into the planning challenges and opportunities that remain.
- How does good (or bad) pre-planning affect the management of wealth post close?
- What happens with the sale proceeds? How are they managed to provide income to the owner?
- Are there still tax and estate planning steps that the owner can take to minimize taxes?
