I thought this might be useful to fellow XPX members who work with family-owned businesses considering a sale.
The article looks at a part of the exit decision that can receive less attention once valuation, tax, structure, and transaction mechanics take center stage: whether the family understands the consequences well enough to truly own the decision.
I offer a practical way to move the conversation beyond “Should we sell?” by comparing credible paths and examining what each would make easier, harder, more likely, or more fragile for the business and the family. I’d be interested in how others in the XPX community approach this part of the exit-planning process.
